A tour is a fabulous way of viewing and feeding our animals through open aired safari vehicles (van or bus depending on number of people and type of tour). Family Tour

Recommended for all ages, this tour takes you on our Scenic Wildlife Drive. This is a perfect opportunity to get to know most of our animals and the stories surrounding them and Fossil Rim. This tour lasts around 2 hours depending on weather, traffic in the park, and if the animals decide they are especially hungry that day. (Make your tour private by paying an extra $100 , this will secure that you are the only ones on the tour vehicle, 8 person minimum).

Behind-the-Scenes Tour

Times:	September to May:10:00am and 2:00pm Daily.
	June to August: 8:30am and 10:00am Daily.

This tour not only takes you on our Scenic Wildlife Drive through our park but also provides you a special privilege to explore the animals in our Intensive Management Area. With this area being off-limits to drive-through guests, you will get the special behind the scenes look that most people crave. This tour is designed for older children (ages 7 and up) and adults as the length and delivery style make it unsuitable for young children. This tour lasts about 3 hours. (Make your tour private by paying an extra $100, this will secure that you are the only ones on the tour vehicle, 8 person minimum).

Adventure Tour

Times:	9:00am-3:00pm (Flexible hours may be arranged).
Price:	$325 per person

Spend a leisurely day on your own private tour seeing all aspects of Fossil Rim. This tour gives you the opportunity to meet our animal care specialists, eat a lunch at our Safari Camp prepared just for you while watching animals out the window and see the “behind the scenes” areas of Fossil Rim. Due to the length of activities, this tour is recommended for adults only with a limit of 10 people per tour. Reservations are required at least five days in advance, please call 254.897.2960.

Feeding Tour

Times:	Year-round, Saturday and Sunday – 8:30am.
Price:	Peak Season: $196 per person Off Season: $151 per person

This tour provides you with an opportunity to be a zookeeper for a morning. You get the privilege of riding along with our animal care experts as they do their morning feeding rounds. With a limit of two people per tour, it is recommended for adults only. The tour can last up to approximately 3.5 hours.

Discovery after Dark Program and Tour

Ever wonder what animals do after the sun sets? This tour allows you to spot our animals in their night time behavior as well as learn about nocturnal animals and their adaptations to function in the dark. Reservations are required at three days in advance, please call 254.897.2960. When arriving at Fossil Rim, park at the Overlook parking lot and join us in the Eco Center for a 45 minute program after which we will take you on a 2 hour tour through the park.

Photography Tour

Times:	3:00pm–7:00pm: March, April, September and October.
	4:00pm–8:00pm: May, June, July and August.
Price:	$65 per person

Photography tours come in two varieties: Publicly scheduled events with expert instructors, which are listed on our web site ( Calendar) and in our monthly newsletter as “Photography Workshop”; as well as Photography Tours (also on our calendar, listed as Photography Tour) where you are driven around by one of our experienced guides and given the best photographic opportunities available. This tour is recommended for ages 16 and up and lasts about 4 hours. This tour is designed for photographers to catch the dusk light, which is the best light possible for afternoon photos. Please look at the calendar for both the Photography Workshops as well as the Photography Tour dates. (Make your tour private by paying an extra $100, this will secure that you are the only ones on the tour vehicle, 8 person minimum).

Ride-the-Rim

Our guided Ride the Rim event tour offers an opportunity for you to ride your bike and visit a special restricted area of the park which houses some of our endangered animals during your ride. Mother’s/Father’s Day Sunset Safari Dinner and Tour

Show Mom or Dad how much she/he means to you. Spend the evening at Fossil Rim Wildlife Center. We will start the evening with a delicious dinner, including tea, coffee and a homemade dessert in the glass walled pavilion located in the Foothills Safari Camp, over looking a watering hole in our main pasture. After dinner, you will board one of our open air vehicles to take a sunset tour of Fossil Rim Wildlife Center. A special gift for mom/dad is also included.

Sweetest Day/Sweetheart Safari Dinner and Tour

Sweet on someone? Come and impress them with a three-course meal, live music and then an evening tour. You and your sweetheart will depart the Foothills Safari Camp at 6:00pm in one of our open air vehicles to take a Sunset Tour through Fossil Rim Wildlife Center. Upon returning to Safari Camp, the two of you will partake in a delicious “Surf and Turf” candle light dinner, with tea, coffee, a homemade dessert and chocolate for your sweetheart. All served in our glass walled pavilion overlooking one of the watering holes for our main pasture. After dinner, relax with your special someone and enjoy Michael Cote (our live performer) singing love songs for the remainder of the evening.

Holiday Around the Rim Sunset Safari Dinner and Tour

Close-out the year with our Holiday Around the Rim Sunset Safari Dinner and Tour. It involves cookies, hot chocolate, appetizers, champagne, shopping, live music, exotic animals and THEN the holiday meal. Come and celebrate Christmas with Fossil Rim Wildlife Center. Meet at the Foothills Safari Camp Pavilion at 5:00 pm and be served cookies and hot chocolate. Then board one of our open air vehicles at 5:30pm and travel through the Scenic Wildlife Drive to the Nature Store for holiday shopping, appetizers and champagne. At 6:30pm, guests will then re-board the open air vehicles for a brisk evening safari to the glass walled pavilion at the Foothills Safari Camp, where you will enjoy a memorable holiday dinner, tea, coffee and a homemade dessert in front of the glowing fireplace, with live Holiday entertainment.

Murder Mystery Dinner and Tour

Do you think you have what it takes to follow the clues and find the culprit? Participants will be e-mailed their character description and instructions. Guests are encouraged to dress comfortably for their role. They will meet at the glass walled pavilion at Foothills Safari Camp at 5pm sharp where they will be given their first clue and board the vans for a mini tour of Fossil Rim Wildlife Center. Listen carefully for clues on the tour. After the mini tour, dinner will be served and the esteemed Dr. Robert Bontebok will be our guest speaker.

Groups Tour

Times:	Flexible, hours may be arranged. Only available on non-holiday weekdays.
Price:	$27 per person

These tours are designed for school, youth and senior special groups (differs from a private Family Tour). We will put your group on one or more of our tour vehicles and give you a guided tour through our Scenic Wildlife Drive providing for you a chance to ask all the questions you like and making sure you won’t miss a thing. Groups must have a minimum of 10 people and maximum of 104 people. (Reservations are required at least three days in advance, please call 254.897.2960).

Booking Information

For information, availability and/or to make reservations please call 254.897.2960.
Guided tours are booked in advance. It’s best to book as early as possible since tours can fill up well ahead of time, especially during busy seasons. We must schedule tour guides, therefore, we can take walk up guests only if there is already a tour scheduled with available seats. Guest with reservations will always be given preference to seating before walk up guests.
There is no refund if you arrive late and miss your tour, so please plan your trip carefully to arrive on time.
Must cancel at least 24 hours in advance to avoid penalty.
Credit Card is required to make reservation at time of booking. We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover and Debit cards. Payment is due 24 hours before reservation.
Some tours include admission to the park. When making your tour reservation, please check with the Reservation office to see if your tour does include a free scenic drive through.

General Tour Information

Be Prepared: Be sure to dress for the weather. You may bring hats, sunscreen, and water if you wish. Please do not bring any other food or beverage items. Also, there are no restrooms on our tour route.
Based on the total number of tour guests, the open-air tour vehicle might be a jeep, van or safari bus.
Members and groups of 10 or more people receive a 10% discount. Other coupons/discounts do not apply.
