Going Native – Summer Camp 2010
Turn off the TV and turn on the FUN!!! This summer, we're Going Native at Fossil Rim's Wolf Ridge Nature Camp! Your child can spend his or her days doing Archery, Animal Exploration, Arts and Crafts, Hiking, Nature Journaling, Foam Parties, Native Culture Lessons, Astronomy, Campfire Fun, Cooking and more!!!
Camp offers kids a unique opportunity to gain independence and self esteem while learning the values of responsibility, respect, and stewardship, all in a safe environment. Add in Fossil Rim's beautiful, sloping countryside with more than a thousand amazing and exotic animals to discover, and you have a once in a lifetime experience for your child.

Session 1
"Wild Around the World"
Explore the world's native wildlife.
June 9–12, 2010 ◊ Ages 7–15
This exciting wildlife conservation camp focuses on animals from around the world that live right here at Fossil Rim. The camp activities provide an experiential journey to China, Australia, Egypt and India to illustrate how the animals were adapted to their habitats, why the animals have left their homelands, and what Fossil Rim does to help them. The international conservation concepts are woven through activities such as archery, fishing, and simulated animal tracking and capture techniques, nature hikes, guided wildlife tours, songs, mapping, and authentic games. The camp includes meals and water play to beat the heat.

Session 2
"Wild at Work"
Discover a variety of wildlife careers.
June 17–19, 2010 ◊ Ages 11–17
If you love animals and plan to work in a wildlife career when you grow up, then this camp is
for you. It offers a behind-the-scenes look at Fossil Rim Wildlife Center’s wildlife conservation program through
the eyes of our animal care, animal health, and education staff. Learn how we manage the future of these species,
as well as their diets, medical care, housing, and babies. You will visit places other young visitors are rarely
allowed to go. Your activities will include designing a wild animal habitat, and simulated capture and tracking of
wild animals. This camp includes meals, a wildlife tour, discussion sessions with staff and of course water play to
beat the heat.

"Wild in Sherwood Forest"
Robin Hood Day camp.
June 24, 2010 ◊ Ages 7–15
A full day wildlife conservation adventure filled with archery, a guided wildlife tour, tales
of European Red Deer, animal explorations with horns and antlers, a camouflage activity and lunch.

"The Wilds of Africa"
An immersion into African culture.
July 8–10, 2010 ◊ Ages 7–15
This amazing wildlife conservation camp celebrates the African animals of Fossil Rim, as well as the land and cultures of Africa. A comparison of the past / present and native / exotic sides of conservation come to life through activities such as archery, wild animal capture and tracking techniques, handmade games and instruments, cooking, guided wildlife tour, and nature hikes. The camp includes meals and water play to beat the heat.

"Wild About Native Americans"
A cultural experience on early Americans.
July 14-17, 2010 ◊ Ages 7–15
Native American culture centers on wildlife conservation and respect for nature. This camp celebrates their vision and weaves it throughout activities including archery, fishing, and simulated animal tracking and capture techniques, natural dyes, nature hikes, guided wildlife tours, arthropods and native animals, handmade instruments, songs, stories, cooking, and games. This camp includes meals and water play to beat the heat.

"Native Texas Wild"
The culture and critters of Texas.
