Our Road Rules!
We want you to enjoy your visit. Please remember that the animals you will be viewing are wild and a s with any wild, untamed animal, can be potentially dangerous. They are not tame or domesticated. Their instincts and behavior are wild, free and VERY unpredictable. You are entering THEIR world. Please respect them and their habitat.
Absolutely no pets are allowed at Fossil Rim
We realize that many people travel with their pets, but visitors with pets will not be allowed in the center or left in parked vehicles in our parking lot. If found to be in a vehicle in the park the vehicle will be escorted out of the park. This is because domestic animals present potential health risks to the wild animals here and because of state and federal animal disease regulations. Please take this into consideration while making plans to visit us. There are veterinarians in Glen Rose area that offer boarding services, please call our main number for more information.
Stay in your vehicle at all times
All Fossil Rim animals are wild and free. For your safety you MUST remain in your vehicle. All tailgates, van and car doors, and hatchbacks MUST be closed. Jeeps MUST have side doors. Convertibles with tops down and passengers in pickup beds ARE permitted. Pickup passengers CANNOT "change places" (i.e., move from cab to bed or visa versa) inside the park (you can switch at the Overlook.)
Do not feed from your hand or feed bag
Drop pellets on the ground. Wildlife feeds off the ground at all times.
Do not feed anything but the purchased feed
Doing so may result in serious, even fatal, health problems for our animals.
Do not honk your horn
This could frighten or cause the animals to stampede, which could cause, major damage to yours or other vehicles in the park.
Stay on the paved tour route
Speed limit is 15 MPH.
Do not stop within 50 ft. on either side of any cattle guards
Animals may be tempted to walk over the bars and injure themselves.
Pull off to the side of the road when stopping
Pulling over allows others to pass.
Remove any flags, balls or other loose objects from the outside of your vehicle
Animals are attracted to colorful moving objects and if eaten could result in serious injury.
Keep all trash, including cigarette butts, in your car
Litter can result in serious injury to the animals and cigarettes can cause dangerous fires. There are trash cans at the Overlook site and the exit where you can deposit your trash.
Fossil Rim Wildlife Center assumes no liability for damage to vehicles, persons or property as a result of any interactions with the animals and facilities. Fossil Rim reserves the right to remove, without refund, anybody that is in violation of these rules.
