What's Gnu?

• One new Grant’s Zebra has made its way to Fossil Rim. Look for it in our Giraffe pasture. You may also find a baby waterbuck that the mother is now bringing out on occasion.

• The Grevy’s Zebra girls that were being housed by the Clinic have been returned to the pasture with the rest of our herd. They moved to make room for the new male Kudu who is being housed directly next to, but a fence away from, our resident male. We need to make sure that they will get along with one another. So far they are spending a lot of time together with no apparent signs of aggression.

• The Attwater’s Prairie Chickens have been busy. We have 90 new eggs so far this year.

• Animal Care reports that we’re receiving a male Arabian Oryx to join our females that frequently reside on the hill near the Robert B. Haas Cheetah Conservatory.

• Two Sandhill Cranes hatched last Sunday. Proud parents are residents who nest on the island near the Foothills Safari Camp. They are already bringing the chicks over to the mainland during most of the daylight hours.

Book your tent now to get the best view.
