Educational Enrichment:
Autumn Beauty at Wolf Ridge Camp

continued from main page

Cooler temperatures beckon campers to hike the recently opened nature trail that loops down around the wolves at the Children's Animal Center, through the woods, and on to the birding trail. The pleasantry of this time of year is coupled with fewer insects, late blooming plant species, and bunkhouse breezes. In addition, Wolf Ridge camp offers pitch black skies filled with sparkling stars and reflective planets. Night time at Fossil Rim is truly magical.

Each camp agenda is different based on number of campers and length of stay. Smaller camps enjoy the excitement of personal tours, fun activities, plus intimacy and solitude at night. Larger camps are vibrant social events with chuck wagon dinners and Living Texas Presentations. All camps can view the night sky through our telescopes and learn about the mysteries of space.

The animals also celebrate the season with restored energy and activity bringing the pastures to life. The timid spring youngsters are now venturing out in full view of visitors. Thus, no camp experience would be complete without a guided tour through the park and an opportunity to feed and observe the animals.

As you might imagine, Wolf Ridge Camp is a popular place and books up early. So if your school, scout, homeschool, corporate or family group wish to enjoy the splendor of a day or overnight visit, you need to make your reservation now. Contact Cheryl at 254-897-2960 Ext. 312. If she is busy providing personal attention to other callers, please leave a voicemail and she will return your call in a timely manner. We look forward to sharing with you the beauty and excitement of Fossil Rim in autumn.
