We continue to work on the fallow deer population situation at Fossil Rim

We have begun capturing males and vasectomizing them. This will keep all their secondary characteristics (nice antlers, size, behaviors), but will keep them from breeding the females. There are two hopes for this. One, there will be this many fewer males that can impregnate females, and two, maybe some of these males will get harems and breed with the females so that other males can't. Our goal is to reduce the numbers of fallow on the property. The last, most reliable count put us at around 300 animals. That's a lot of fallow deer.
