Fossil Rim Guided Tours

For families with younger children we recommend the Family Tour. This tour lasts about an hour and a half and gives you time to get up close and personal with the animals in a safe way.

For those of you with older children (at least 8 years of age), we offer a Behind the Scenes Tour. These are about two and a half hours in duration and take you into our Intensive Management Area where we are breeding cheetahs, three species of wolves, black rhinos, and Attwater’s Prairie Chickens among others. This tour goes into more detail about the breeding of endangered species and how we are interacting with other institutions to assure that diverse, pure genetics are passed on in this process.

Larger groups can take a tour on one of our school busses that seat up to 32 people.

Adults can go out on a Feeding Tour where they will accompany an Animal Care staff person on morning rounds. This offers lots of chances for all those specific questions you want to ask.

Another adult activity is found with the Adventure tour. On this tour you will spend six hours taking in the sites. Here you get to go see things not offered on other tours as well as have lunch at the overlook as our guest and receive a gift bag to remember your day
