Editor: How did Puzzles get his name?

Dr. Condy: Because of his black and white patchwork color, my daughter named him “Puzzles”. Her tabby cat is called “Snuggles”!

Editor: Why is Puzzles so special to you ?

Dr. Condy: First, he just walked in and took over the house one cold winter morning in January 2005 while he was only about 6 weeks old – he was tiny and still ‘sucking’ at rather than lapping up liquids. Also because he just made me his ‘comfort’ and/or ‘safety’ zone - took over my lap and snuggled inside my sweater the moment I sat down anywhere, no asking no hesitation, just did it like that was what I was there for. If I were standing, he would just sit on one of my shoes, waiting for me to pick him up and put him into my vest. That’s how it has been ever since, though now he is too big to fit in my vest! But he expects my lap on demand! Outside, I can’t go anywhere in the yard without him following along, just like a dog, and he ‘talks’ constantly. Don’t know whether he was ‘wild’ born or ‘dumped’ by someone, but he has to be the most “characterful” cat I’ve ever known.

Editor: What makes Puzzles different from your other cats?

Dr. Condy: He’s a wanderer (or hunter?), every so often just disappearing for a day and night, but he starts announcing his return with loud ‘talk’ the moment he crosses the line into our yard and keeps it up (like ‘hello, and what’s been going on here while I was away’) for half an hour after arriving. One odd thing about him is he does not like milk – water is all he drinks, and if the bowl has yesterday’s water in it, he complains like crazy until fresh water is put in it and then he purrs like crazy as he drinks it!
