A giraffe peeks it’s head into the bus during the Giraffe Encounter Member Appreciation Event

Members Corner:
Get Up Close and Personal with Fossil Rim Residents During Member Appreciation Events

The tour kicked off at the Overlook parking lot with a history of Fossil Rim Wildlife Center by Animal Care Director, Kelley Snodgrass. Next, we jumped on a Fossil Rim bus to feed the giraffes in the pasture followed by a visit to the giraffe barn for an informative, educational talk on giraffes by Animal Care Specialist, Cassie Peterson. Cassie answered many “giraffe” questions and gave us a tour of the inside of the giraffe barn. There was no question that stumped Cassie! The giraffes were cooperative to being fed thru the bus windows while showing their “gentle giant” nature.

We hope that the enjoyment of the day and of the benefits of being a member at Fossil Rim will be expressed by all of the member participants to their families, neighbors, co-workers and friends. We also hope to have many more new visitors to Fossil Rim in the future as a result of this event!

Event attendees enjoyed a tour of the giraffe barn

I believe that an understanding of our core business of conservation was taken home with each of the members present, both adult and child, alike. A goody bag with Fossil Rim coupons (20% for the day at the Nature Store to members only) and information concerning programs (educational, homeschool, volunteer and events), tours, membership and lodging was also included.

Special thanks to our event volunteers, Sherry and Riley Davis, Nan Charpiot, Marsha Tucker, Shirley Smith and Trich Zaitoon! I think they had just as much fun working the event as our 120 member participants! Also, thanks to Tamara French, Fossil Rim Volunteer Coordinator, and Karen Veal, Fossil Rim Membership Manager for all the “behind the scenes” planning and coordinating!

Donations were appreciated to cover expenses but not required. If you attended the event and would like to make a donation, please send them to:
