Rio Grande Turkeys
continued from main page

Automobiles no longer scare them and on occasion male turkeys will strut toward cars with their tail feathers fanned looking for a handout. Males tend to gather with those of their own sex and females stay with females, except in breeding season in March and April.

On hot summer days, flocks gather in open spaces under groves of trees looking for shade and cool winds. Watch especially in the third and fourth pastures on the drive for wandering flocks.
