2006 In Review

We were able to:
Send 64 Attwater Prairie chickens to South Texas for release
Send 2 addax females to Tunisia
Send 2 scimitar horned oryx females to Tunisia

Our acquisitions included:
Five male Cheetah adults
One male and 2 female Addra Gazelle
Three female Mexican Gray Wolves
One male Giraffe
A Grant’s Zebra
Sable, Roan and Bongo males

Our research has included:
Assistance to the International Rhino Foundation with their Conservation Medicine Program and continued diet study for Attwater Prairie Chickens and Black Rhino in association with Mazuri feeds and Fort Worth Zoo’s Nutritional Department
Determining oocyte activity in aging female cheetah
Assisting US Fish and Wildlife with deer sample collections regarding Fish and Wildlife genetic project

We are happy to report several improvements:
We completed replacing the White Rhino Barn floor heating unit.
Progress on a replacement cheetah house in the Intensive Management Area with three more coming
Near completion of a replacement breeding facility for the Attwater Prairie Chickens – part of a four stage project

And we celebrate you, our loyal readers and supporters. We are here for the animals but we just couldn’t make it without all of you.
