Discover New Vistas at Fossil Rim

So you think North Texas is flat? Come to Fossil Rim and discover some hills right here in your own backyard. Our elevation climbs from around 970 feet to around 1170 feet and provides savannah-like pastures, forested areas and hillsides for the animals to roam.

You get to enjoy beautiful far vistas from the several scenic points on our 9 1/2 mile drive within our 1800 acres. If you are lucky you might also observe one of our Aoudad, or Barbary sheep, climbing up a steep slope just to come see if your car has any animal pellets. The open spaces given to these animals are what make us so unique and what makes the animals feel comfortable and more at home.

What's New
Roan Antelope Join the Herds

Fossil Rim now has Roan Antelope on property, one of three antelope species capable of defending itself against lions. The other two are the Gemsbok and the Sable Antelope, both of which have been on property for some time.

These animals have been released into a pasture just past Magnum, the Ankole/Watusi/Scottish Highland bull near the front gate. Read the full story and find out about other new animals.
