Fossil Rim Receives Juniper Study Grant

Another 18 acres will have juniper removed the first year and then be mowed the next two years. Another 18 acres will have juniper removed and then be burned in subsequent years. We will survey vegetation and bird species before and after the study to see how successful their recovery was.

We are looking at gaining experience and equipment to deal with juniper management on a larger scale. At the end of the observation period each participating facility will host public workshops for landowners regarding invasive vegetation control methods. Stay tuned, we’ll keep you posted.
