Cheetah Chatter: Animal Updates

They require anesthesia for this procedure which is quite tricky in something with this long of a neck. Several Aoudad are due for hoof trims, too. Kusamona, one of our black rhinos, is going to have another biopsy for melanoma, this time on his leg.

Three female cheetahs born in the fall of 2005 will be moving to the Kansas City Zoo. Two more females born just a few weeks apart from those three will soon be finding new homes too, they are headed to the Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City. We are expecting a new Sable Antelope bull to arrive at Fossil Rim this month. He will go through quarantine and then get to join our females.

Holly also mentioned that they are about to dart the Mexican Grey Wolf male for his check up and vaccinations. The expression "Wiley as a wolf" is an honestly earned title. She says they are constantly challenged with finding new ways to trick him with that dart.
