Fine Art Show benefiting 20 Years Wild! of Endangered Wildlife
Conservation
Saturday, June 5, 2004
As part of the 20 Years Wild Celebration, Fossil Rim
Wildlife Center is hosting the 2nd Annual Art Safari, a unique sale
and show of wildlife inspired original artwork. Disciplines include
sculpture, painting, prints and photography by artists and craftsman
chosen to participate in the show. Jurists selecting the artists
include internationally renowned painter and sculptor Robert Summers.
20% of all proceeds from the show will be donated to the wildlife
conservation programs at Fossil Rim Wildlife Center. Prices begin
at $15.
WHEN: Saturday, June 5 Noon – 5 p.m.

at Visitor’s Center

COST: Free admission. Each person purchasing artwork at Art Safari
will receive a coupon good for one free child admission to the Scenic
Wildlife Drive.

LOCAL ARTIST PROFILES:
Arlington/DFW area: R.C. “Bobby” Hunt
• Career wildlife artist for more than 20 years as a bronze
sculptor
• Passion for the outdoors and love of hunting throughout
North America and Africa provides inspiration for his work
• Completed more than 30 commissions including American Airlines,
Dallas Safari Club, Dallas Ecological Foundation, and both the Dallas
and Fort Worth Zoos
• Active life member of the Safari Club International and
the Arlington Sportsman's Club and regularly contributes his pieces
to the fundraising efforts of these organizations
Collin County Artist: Carol Rupp
• Member of the Plano Art Association, currently the president
of the Art Club of McKinney
• Recently completed mural in Heard-Craig Auditorium in McKinney
• Works in all media (acrylic, watercolor, pencil, pastel,
etc.) specializing in portraits and wildlife Majority of work is
privately commissioned for homes and offices in the United States
and Europe
• Retired teacher after 30 years of service and now concentrates
full-time on art
BACKGROUND: Fossil Rim Wildlife Center is a 1,650
acre not-for-profit
501(c)3 facility that specializes in captive breeding
programs for endangered and threatened species of animals. It is
one of the few private facilities that meet the strict standards
set for accreditation by the American Zoo and Aquarium Association
and is an important player in global efforts to save endangered
species. The Center cooperates in international species survival
plans (SSPs) for 14 endangered or threatened species protected by
global species survival plan. Fossil Rim’s research in species
propagation is advancing the science of wildlife conservation dramatically
and fine-tuning a model of what wildlife preserves will look like
