Morning Safari Tour
(Offered to Our Overnight Lodge & Safari Camp Guests Only, Minimum Age 7)
For information, availability and/or to make reservations please call 254.897.2960.
The Morning Safari Tour may just be the best tour of the day while at Fossil Rim. This tour is offered (for an additional cost) only to our Lodge and Foothills Safari Camp overnight guests (age 7 and older) and it leaves at 8:30 from the Safari Camp Pavilion, where breakfast is served. Your advantage of an early morning departure will have you out and about before most other guests arrive for the day and before some of the animals have been fed. Having the brunch wagon drive through is sheer delight for them and you may well get mobbed by animals looking for a handout.
Your first stop is generally at the Mexican gray wolf enclosure of the nearby Intensive Management Area (IMA)*. You will view three species of wolves, cheetah, coati, black rhinos and Attwater’s prairie chickens in this area before heading out into the park to look for the rest of our animals; returning to the Foothills Safari Camp in time for check out.
* Due to the sensitive nature of the animals in the IMA, guests are not guaranteed to see every species. There are times in our breeding facility where, due to certain circumstances dictated by our veterinary team, we may have to close down a certain area for the well being of our animals/breeding program.
Your guide will entertain and inform you as well as do the driving so you don’t have to. So if you’re staying at the Lodge or Foothills Safari Camp, don’t miss out – take advantage of this delightful morning tour.
