Just up the road and across the Paluxy river, the simple setting of Glen Rose is surprisingly packed with many things to do and places to explore. Start with the historic Glen Rose Courthouse Square surrounded by enchanting shops, galleries and cafés, then venture over to Dinosaur Valley State Park, a National Natural Landmark, where you can follow the footsteps of dinosaurs that roamed the earth over 70 million years ago.

For more sporting action, Squaw Valley Golf Course consistently ranks among the top ten public courses in Texas. There’s usually an exciting rodeo, equine event or car show at the local Expo Center, and during the late summer and fall seasons the amphitheater presents an impressive cast of more than 100 actors, singers and dancers in “The Promise”, a well known passion play set to music.

Wade the Paluxy at Big Rocks Park, catch a Blue Grass music festival or try your hand at paddling a canoe or tubin’ down the nearby Brazos river. Gear up for an invigorating mountain bike ride at Solovaca Ranch, or set out for a leisurely drive to any of the surrounding communities to visit antique and curio shops, artisans’ galleries, an old fashioned opera house performance, colorful boutiques and all the nostalgic comforts of gentle rural Texas where time passes slowly, and the welcome is first hand.
