Full Time Positions

Housekeeper – (Temp to Hire)

The Housekeeper will maintain assigned areas in a clean, sanitary, safe, orderly and attractive manner in accordance with established procedures and as directed by supervisor, assuring that the highest degree of cleanliness and sanitation is maintained at all times. The Housekeeper will be responsible for cleaning The Lodge, the Safari Camp and tents, and the Administration offices.

Description of Position:

The essential responsibilities of the Housekeeper include but are not limited to the following:

  • Represent Fossil Rim in professional attire as directed by the Lodgings Manager
  • Always interact with guests in a helpful, friendly, highly respectful and professional manner
  • Following cleaning schedule and instructions as directed
  • Sweeping, vacuuming, cleaning, dusting, mopping and/or polishing assigned areas
  • Windows, mirrors, walls, ceilings, hallways; emptying wastebaskets
  • Stripping and making-up rooms
  • Submitting maintenance work orders to the Manager of The Lodge
  • and other duties as deemed necessary
  • Help ensure that all public areas are cleaned and maintained
  • Maintaining proper care of cleaning equipment
  • Assisting with laundry duties
  • Conservative use of all cleaning materials and supplies in order to avoid waste
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds
  • Must be able to stand on feet for at least 2/3 of the day
  • Must be able to climb stairs with or without the assistance of the railing
  • Regular and dependable attendance as scheduled. Must be flexible when required as duties and guest schedules are varied
  • Ensuring safety of guests and staff through routine responsibilities

The secondary responsibilities of the Housekeeper include but are not limited to the following:

  • Ensuring safety of guests and staff through routine responsibilities
  • Be responsible for educating him/herself of the Fossil Rim Mission and the knowledge to promote and sell the services of Fossil Rim Wildlife Center

Experience and Qualities Required:

These include the following:

  • Attention to detail, cleanliness and hygiene
  • Neat, clean and professional personal appearance and attire (very important)
  • Able to work with little supervision, able to be resourceful, a calm and organized demeanor
  • Honesty and reliability are essential

Part Time Positions

Retail Sales Associate – (Temp to Hire)

This position is responsible for a high-impact, fast-paced, first impression-directed, top-notch customer service. This will be the result of assisting guests in a way that will ensure a pleasant and comfortable time at Fossil Rim, helping guests with purchases made at retail locations, processing customer transactions in a friendly and urgent manner, and maintaining a clean and organized environment.

Description of Position:

The essential responsibilities of the Retail Sales Associate include but are not necessarily limited to the following:

  • Willingness and flexibility to work at all the retail establishments: Nature Store, Admissions, The Lodge and Safari Camp and the Café
  • To always maintain world-class customer service with helpfulness, product knowledge and speed
  • Engage with all customers that enter the establishments and greet and assist as needed
  • Minimize overages and shortages through proper cash and safe handling and cash control procedures, as laid down by your Director and the Finance Department
  • Accuracy in processing transactions
  • Use of suggestive sales techniques in selling other products of Fossil Rim. (Lodgings, Nature Store, Café, Tours, Camps, etc.)
  • Use of suggestive sales techniques in selling other products of the retail location in which you are working
  • Maintain a daily high standard of cleanliness on the sales floor, countertops, work surfaces and bathrooms
  • Minimize stock loss through theft and mishandling of merchandise
  • Comply with Health Department standards at all times
  • Be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Constantly updating self-knowledge of codes, products and pricing

(Lodgings only)

  • Prepare breakfasts, lunches and dinners for camps and other visitors of Fossil Rim Wildlife Center or assist with meal preparation as needed (Café and Lodgings only)
  • Check-in and check-out guests as per laid down procedure
  • Answer telephones (it is very important that the phone is answered since guests have other choices when making a reservation) and supply correct rate, room availability and other information. Maintain up to date knowledge of all events and pricing specials
  • Maintain accurate Reservation files. Log all required reservation information, confirm with the guests and issue confirmation letters in a timely manner
  • Ensure that all memberships applications are completed in full and given to the Membership Committee of The Club each week
  • Process daily transaction and bank deposits as per procedure laid down by Finances Department in the absence of the Lodge Manager
  • Assist with dining area set-up before meals, serve meals according to shift, and clean up dining area after meals
  • Ensure full compliance with and understanding of Employee Handbook, Risk Management Plan, corporate procedures and policies, Departmental mission and goals, and Fossil Rim mission, values and goals

The secondary responsibilities of the Retail Sales Associate include but are not necessarily limited to the following:

  • To be able to lift 35 pounds
  • Maintain updated knowledge on special events, new animal information, special attractions, and basic operations of Fossil Rim. Help new team members to develop a similar level of expertise
  • Restock and refill displays as needed
  • Work additional shifts during peak periods and holidays
  • Perform all normal daily routines as instructed, including re-stocking of vending facilities (Lodgings only)

Experience and Qualities Required:

These include the following:

  • Well spoken, always helpful on the telephone and respectful of guests and potential guests
  • Attention to detail
  • Good customer service and sales skills both in person and by telephone
  • Able to communicate and interact well with other staff, respectful of supervisors, and showing trust and respect for others in the guest services area
  • Neat, clean and tidy personal appearance and attire. Uniform standard as assigned by management (clean and proper appearance a must)
  • Computer literate. Able and willing to learn specialized applications
  • Punctual and dependable according to duty schedule, but flexible when required, duties are varied. Able to work with little supervision, able to be resourceful, having a calm and organized demeanor
  • Accuracy in record-keeping
  • Clean record in cash handling. Honesty and reliability are essential
