Fossil Rim + Camps = FUN!

Wolf Ridge Nature Camp, we offer a variety of day, overnight, summer and badge camps. Spend the day with us, spend the whole night or several… and take home lasting memories and a deeper knowledge of nature, endangered species and Fossil Rim’s mission to save them.

Day Camps offer exciting short-term outings for schools, scouts and other groups and are from 9:00am – 4:00pm and include a guided tour of the park, a nature hike and two camp programs from our selection.

Overnight Camps are our most popular and begin at 10:00am and end at 9:00am the next day. Wolf Ridge camp offers two types of accommodations: Rustic, screened-in, wood-framed bunk houses or more modern units with air-conditioning and heating.

Summer Camps offer great outdoor programs and come in traditional and themed varieties. Wildlife tours, hiking, water games, archery, crafts, drama, interactive educational activities and so much more await your child at Wolf Ridge Nature Camp.

Badge Camps offer a unique way to earn scout badges. Wolf Ridge Nature Camps are the perfect way to go!

Workshops Without the Work

Let us take the "work" out of workshops! We offer many teacher certification, photography, games of the world and experiential science workshops. Our "workshops" will make you think "funshops." Whether you want a particular certification, credit hours, hands-on teaching experience, a faculty retreat, or ideas for using Fossil Rim as a field trip destination, we can make it happen. We are so much more than a classroom. Our workshops can include guided wildlife tours, guided nature hikes, meals, bird watching, fossil digs, working with classroom animals, overnights and star gazing. Come to one of our scheduled events or set up an event that fits the needs of your group.

...and What About the Animals?

In all the fun of our educational programming, we don’t lose sight of Fossil Rim’s ultimate purpose, to save species in peril.  So, we’re all about the animals. Most of our animals are here for a reason: if they were still in their native habitats, they might not be here tomorrow. Get to know our animals. Then come see them. Hopefully, someday in the far distant future, you won’t be telling your grandkids how you saw a live addax at Fossil Rim once, before they disappeared forever. Our goal is to keep that from happening, and your support, through participating in our educational programming, helps us to attain that goal. Your support, through participation in our educational programming, is essential to our success.

Scouting at Fossil Rim

At Fossil Rim we know how hard it can be for a busy scout leader to get a badge or project award together for their troop, so our experienced naturalists are here to help! At Wolf Ridge Nature Camp your scout group will get a chance to earn badges during an unforgettable day or overnight camp experience or a service project day, surrounded by nature, wildlife and good friends.

Fossil Rim has worked closely with many Scout groups to develop unique, exciting projects that meet the individual requirements of the badge or award their troop would like to earn. Our Education Team has assisted with everything from junior badges to Gold or Eagle Scout Awards!

This is your chance to put your time and effort toward a really great cause - helping to save endangered species! Our scouts have done everything from trail maintenance to recycling to building nest boxes for our birds, and we couldn't be more thankful for their help and hard work. At a place like Fossil Rim, every little bit makes a big difference, and we can only hope that more scouts decide to take an interest in our animals by using their talents and energy to create projects for the future.
