Our Herd
You will find our herd of 60 European red deer living in the game preserve. A male or two maintains a large group of females. Additional adult males and juveniles form bachelor herds. They migrate regularly, spending large amounts of time in open pasture. In the heat of the day, they browse and rest in areas of dense vegetation.

How they Behave
The red deer are very gregarious, and will approach vehicles on the scenic drive. They are strong swimmers and can often be seen swimming or resting in the water tanks at Fossil Rim. They also like to roll in mud, becoming so caked they are nearly unrecognizable
